this is a very controversial question in the grain world. Some say there isnt any gluten in oats themselves but it comes down to handling, storing and transporting usually with other grains such as wheat, rye and barley.

You can get gluten free oatmeal. The only problem is that some people still react to the oatmeal even if it is certified gluten free. So if you want to try it, make sure you get the gluten free variety and then go ahead and eat it and see if you have any reaction. And to be safe, don't try it everyday right away.

No oatmeal is not gluten free because it is contaminated when it grows and is processed by being near wheat and other gluten containing grains. Try buckwheat, quinoa or rice breakfast cereal. They are good to and can be found at health food stores and some higher end or organic grocers. Good luck on the hunt.

it can not be guaranteed as gluten free, as most oatmeal is processed in a facility that also processes wheat
