Hartley is the better of the two, i think that Thomson lacks steel. Brown is probably better than either of them (he's got skill, pace and time on his side) but Celtic getting the better player at a lower price was some good business by strachan.

Take Hartley anyday.
First of all he is a proven international, Thomson hasn`t done squat in the game yet.
Second, we know Hartley`s agent won`tdo the dirty on Celtic in a few years time, can Thomson say he won`t have another throwing the dummy out the pram episode.
Thirdly, Thomson is at Injured Park, wouldn`t be surprised to see him follow, follow in the path of Rae, Prso, Murray, Webster et al in the near future.

Thommo was too injury prone and well past his best. But they play different positions and different types of game. Hartley will fit better with the squad we have just now.
Mind you, I supose we don't really need the debate seeing as we are far superior ad miles aheah of the rest!!!
