You will have to teach your dog that this is not acceptable behavior. The dog thinks he is the leader of household. You will have to do some behavior modification to let the dog know that you are the leader. Caesar Milan has a video out that might be able to help. If you do not change the dogs behavior he could end up biting someone.

Is your dog a male or female? Is the dog spayed or neutered?
Sometimes a male dog usually unaltered, will look on its female as his own. This will cause him to become aggressive and overprotective when you and your boyfriend show each other affection. You could try obedience training, which would help you two bond, and possibly your boyfriend could attend as well, which would help him bond with the dog.

When a dog protects its owner, its instinct is to lay or sit beside or at the feet of its owner. DO NOT ALLOW your dog to do this. Have your dog to go lay somewhere else. This lets your dog know that your not afraid of this person and he does not have to protect you. Soon he will see that this person is a good guy and leave him alone. It is very important to have this disipline with your dog or he may bite in the future.

It soudns normal alot of my lady friends had the same problem. The dog is protecting you, he considers himself to be the only man (or woman) in your life and think you're boyfriend is tyring to steal you.
There is also the possibilty that the dog is picking up on somthing in the guy that he doens't like...

When your boyfriend goes to kiss or hug you, your dog may think he's trying to hurt you so your dog quickly starts to alert you.
Get your boyfriend to be friends with the dog, and your boyfriend won't be that big of a threat.

Your pup is displaying control over the situation which you can control. Whenever your boyfriend enters or tries to embrace you, you have to cut him/her off and let the pup know that you are in control. Whenever your pup barks, growls, nips, or whatever she/he does, cut it off right away by tapping the pup on the side, immediately. This lets your pup know that this is unacceptable behavior. You'll probably have to repeat this every time the pup display this behavior, but don't let it go, you are in charge, not your pup:) Here's a link for you, Ceasar Milan (I think is his name, he's the Dog Whisperer).

Don't worry about it. Dogs can just be protective over their owners. They see you as their leaders and don't want anything to happen to you. Just let your dog get more use to your boyfriend and it should let up. But it's nothing to worry about.
