Yes you can develop an allergy to anything at any time. Usually people with allergies to animals have breathing difficulty, puffy and watery eyes, sneezing. There is medication for this type of allergy. See an Allergist.

Yes, you can. Allergies to furry animals are quite common.
I have always had severe allergies and even take chronic medication to it but I had never showed, not in one of my early allergy tests, any kind of reaction to dogs, and now I cannot touch my dog or let him lick my hand without getting tiny reaction bubbles (like when a mosquito bites) and a rash.. I do not wash my hands immediately, this will rapidly become worse. My dog is now 8 years old and only 4 years ago I experienced this for the first time. During the first 4 years I could do whatever I pleased when playing around with him and I'd be fine..
I'll have to add that my dog rarely comes inside my house: we have a large garden where he can be loose.
If you have a way to make him stay out of the house, in a garden or something similar, it would be the best option; if not, then keep your bedroom at least dog-free, but be prepared to live with this problem.
Talk to your doctor, perhaps he will give you a soft antihistamine to help you with that but, it is a sad conclusion, you'll only be 100%fine away from your dog.
I would advise you to wash your hands every time you touch him... or your face, right away, if he has that nasty habit mine has of licking your cheeks ;)

I don't know about u ,but she took an allergy pill that was pink and blue and it made her drowsy and it was a 100 milligrams and she took 1 in the morn. and 1 @ night. I don't know the name of the meds so sorry about that one, me I take an over the counter allergy pill.

My mail carrier developed a reaction to dogs whenever he would deliver mail, but only in the early morning hours when he delievered mail.
Since he quit coming, his reaction has completely stopped.
But... Now I get no mail...
