Why would I want to use one over the other? I suppose, just for completeness, I'll also ask about American Express and Discover cards.

The main differences are as follows:
VISA is the most widely accepted form of payment, with Mastercard quickly closing the gap. American Express and Discover are still not as widely accepted by many merchants.
Many American Express cards require you to pay your balance in full each month.
However when it comes to disputing a charge, you will always have better luck with AMEX than you ever would with VISA/Mastercard. Just don't pay the charge otherwise you are out of luck!
Visa and Mastercard have 16 digit account numbers, amex has only 15.
Amex usually offers higher credit lines. Most celebrities have AMEX.
Other than that, they are not really all that different!

When it comes to VISA vs Mastercard, the only difference you need to be concerned about are how they handle disputes and between the two, Mastercard is much stricter. Visa will look at reasonableness in making its decision, Mastercard not so much.

There are no fundamental differences between Visa & Mastercard. Both are used by the masses and accepted by the majority of merchants. In recent years they have tried to become the exclusive card for an organization ie MC only card accepted at Sams Club and Visa the only card accepted by Olympic vendors

Discover pays you back for what you spend but charges you to use it and charges merchants just as all card companies do. THey profit on the front and back end of a transaction.

American Express is a much more exclusive card-they deny the majority and seek to only serve the minority. THey have introduced other products to compete with Visa and Discover-Think AmEX blue but ultimately they are a high end card for the affluent buyer who can afford to pay the entire balance in a month.

I hope this helps

Not much difference between visa and mastercard. Fewer businesses take AE and Discover. I think Discover gives you money back (it's not a free card though)

Education is good, because it teaches you how to learn, how to discipline your mind. Knowledge for a Christian is knowing the word, knowing your God, His nature, His will, His outlook on things. Wisdom is looking at things from God's perspective and putting them into action. Knowledge is great, but too much of it can puff you up if you don't counteract it with fruit of the Spirit. Ever know a person who's very knowledgeable, but has no temperance and no love? Their knowledge is almost useless in the long run. But wisdom? You find that and your soul shall live, because when you find wisdom, you find the way God Himself looks at a situation. Proverbs 3: By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

NO. There are many different kinds of Visas and many different MCs. So, it really cannot be said that there are any fundamental differences.

No. Each is it's own company... who's goal is to get you to borrow from them. All are pretty widely accepted. Try to ignore the marketing.

They should only be used in an emergency. They get most people over there head in debt.
