I am compelled to share with you some ideas, but am very busy at work tonight (what's new). Good things can't be hidden forever. If you wish, you can email me, but I may not get a chance to write for a couple of days.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 timothy 1:7
Praying is useless if you don't have enough faith. I say that you should find people who are serving the Lord. Start reading the Bible and really understand His words in your heart. You can also read other devotional books that talks about God and Christianity.
The first step in preparing yourself is to make sure that Christ is really on the driver's seat in your life and that you are allowing His Spirit to fill you and empower you.
Why not pray this simple prayer and by faith invite Him to fill you with His Spirit:
Dear Father, I need You. I acknowledge that I have sinned against You by directing my own life. I thank You that You have forgiven my sins through Christ's death on the cross for me. I now invite Christ to again take His place on the throne of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit as You commanded me to be filled, and as You promised in Your Word that You would do if I asked in faith. I pray this in the name of Jesus. As an expression of my faith, I thank You for directing my life and for filling me with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
You should be thankful that you are now feeling the need to be closer to God. Don't be afraid and believe w/ all your heart that He is in your life. But don't think that the way in getting closer to Him is to be very religious. He doesn't need you to be, he just wants you to come to Him as you are. May God bless you...

Go to Wal-Mart and buy Joel Olsteen's Book Your best Life Now. Your life will definately change if you follow it. Most importantly pray every minute you think about it. And last but not least get ready for change because i'm getting ready to pray for you.

Build your relationship through prayer. Pray often. Talk to God as your friend and father. Attending more Church functions, meeting can help. Join a bible study group. Read the scripture every night before you retire for bed.
These will definitely build your spiritual faith and strength

You don't need 'more' faith. If you have 'a grain of mustard seed' of faith you have plenty.
Draw close to God and He will draw close to you.
Read the Bible and start applying to your situation.
Also, see a doctor about your health and panic attacks. You may need medication. God wants you to do everything reasonable that you can do to solve your problems. He'll help you with the rest.

God doesn't exist. However, that shouldn't keep you from feeling closer to him. Having all of these problems in your life should help. Religion makes good use of emotional insecurities to get people to have deeper belief in their superstitions. Prayer is one way you can help convince yourself that this invisible being is actually real. If you keep building this emotional dependency on this religious superstition, you might even starting thinking you have felt a "presence". This will make you believe this junk even more. If that doesn't work, there's a whole support structure at various churches keeping this myth alive. They are very good getting you to harbor your insecurity so that you can drown out any "doubts" you have about the whole myth.
Good luck.

As an atheist, I can recommend the following:
1) Do not communicate with anyone except those that believe as you do.
2) Immerse yourself only with literature that agrees with your belief
3) Do not read or listen to anything that does not agree with your belief
4) Keep your environment small and simple and isolated from the world
5) Fast
6) Interpret any strange physical sensation as your god's presence
Good luck

Read and study His Word. Get involved in a Bible study to learn more about Jesus and His Word. Prayer helps, but you have to read His Word to get the answers. Have others pray for you. Serve Him with all your heart. Never put man on a pedestal, because man will fall, but God will never fail you. He will give you peace, and understanding. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
