Not hard at all. You go down to the City Hall Clerk's office, and tell them you want to apply for a change of name. They will ask you a few questions, mainly making sure that you are not changing your name for criminal purposes. Then you write down what name you want to change your name to, you give them proof of identity, which they will check and record. You will pay for the name change--most towns charge per letter (the amount is different for different areas). And then you wait to receive your new name notification in the mail.

In most states under common law you need only start using your new name. The only agency that will give you a hassle is Social Security. It will require a court order.
Otherwise, file a change of name petition (or whatever it is called in your state) in the probate or family court, or the appropriate court for your state. You will have to publish a legal notice. If no one objects, you may still have to go to a hearing to get it allowed.

All you need is an attorney, a court with a judge in it, and about $250.00, give or take a bit. You don't need a reason other than that you want a different name, as long as you are legally old enough to do this. If you aren't, you can still do it with parents permission.

I don't believe you need a reason. The Government won't ask you for a personal reason, for once.
Relatively simple I would assume. Coping with the change is the hard part.

Not much to it. Get a lawyer, he will file the papers. In about 30 days you will go before the judge. He will ask a few simple questions, signs the paperwork and you're done. I did this at the time of my divorce. I didn't want anything from him, not even his name.

perhaps make a poster and write down what alterations you need to make for the further perfect and draw close it up, each and each and every time you seem at it you'd be reminded of what you pick to do. in case you do not pick human beings to make certain this then you truly can positioned it someplace a lot less favourite the position in common words you'll see it. or only attempt to modify somewhat at a time, at a %. that you're tender with yet understand that you're who you're and in case you fail, you may attempt again. best of luck with it Dusty.

Quite easy. You can file the papers yourself, or have a lawyer do it for you. The cost is at about $275.
