The characteristic of CTS versus wrist pain is that compression of the medial nerve in the carpal tunnel causes not just pain, but weakness and parathesia (tingling or numbness) in the first three and a half digits on the palm side and the middle three digits on the back of the hand. Pain from a sprained wrist is often localized and without parathesia.

I think that you should get it checked out right away. I initially had wrist pain, but ignored it. After awhile, the pain went away, but, was replaced by numbness and tingling--which turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome. In the end, I had to have surgery. Whatever it is, don't ignore your symptoms like I did. Suerte!!

cts can be induced by repetive strain injuries to your wrist. like from typing all day, playing with your joystick, jackhammering, dentistry anything that requires you to do the same movement many many times for long periods of time.

Your nerves which supply your hands and fingers pass through a tunnel, in your carpus (wrist) made of tendons and bones, and repeatitive injuries can cause this area to become constricted through scarring and thickening leading to pinching of your nerves..

so stop playing with your joystick.
