And if you helped out, too yes.

Do most parents help out their children to buy a home for the future, or is this just in certain cultures?

And if they didn't help you, why not?

Only if they want to and are rich. Its not the responsibility for them to buy their kids or grand kids a house. Its not like buying them a pair of shoes or giving them an allowance. And some parents finances want let them. There not trying to be mean. They just cant, even if they want to.

No ... my siblings and I were on our own .. and we had to make the decision to become homeowners, and then make sure our budgets could afford what we were purchasing for our homes.

The biggest reason: My Siblings and I ended up burying our parents as very young adults (we all were on Active Duty with the Military), so there was nothing there and they were already deceased.

Now .. as an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ... I am glad I put a priority to being a HOMEOWNER ... because in my Retirement years ... now that the Children are all adults, out of the home ... and MY HOME is MY OWN (Mortgage is paid) ... I am enjoying renovating MY HOME to age in place .. and yes, it is MY HOME ...

No, most people in the U.S. do not get help from their parents in buying a house. That's not very common in this culture.

Our parents helped us with advice and moving and other things, but not as much with the financial part of it. They did help pay for our wedding though.

I know some people whose parents gave money towards a house if the kids payed for their own wedding or eloped or if they had gotten a college scholarship.
