I simply cannot believe all the religious descrimination going on in this country to use our money to fund atrocities so brazenly. Can you folks believe this? Don't you think she should win her case and the Union should have to pay the fees?
"Union Told Me to Pay Dues or Change Religion, Teacher Says
Randy Hall
Staff Writer/Editor

(CNSNews.com) - Told by a union official to pay forced dues or "change religions," a teacher in southern Ohio is challenging a state law that allows only those public employees who belong to certain denominations the right to claim religious objection to paying union dues.

Carol Katter, a mathematics and language arts instructor in the St. Marys district, filed a federal complaint in the U.S. District Court in Columbus this week over an Ohio law that prevents the lifelong Catholic from diverting her dues from a union she refuses to fund because it supports abortion on demand."

Yes I am. This isn't an abortion debate however.
Two wrongs, putting the girl through an abortion, wouldn't make the first problem go away but only worse. This is proven fact. The majority of abortions are from promiscuity and as a method of birth control and the women are lied to. They remember the babies birthdays, often feel suicidal, have physical complications and live with the phsychological and spiritual issues for years to come. Many lesbian clinicians will prey upon patients taking numbers off their charts. Nevertheless, it is not the right of a union to demand anyone support that. I would find it moral to support the 12 year old with counseling, a place to live, support of the baby or adoption all the way as being separate and apart from any NEA dues.
Grown men in war have a choice to fight for a cause. Babies have absolutely no defense whatsoever. They don't choose to die or put themselves at risk of dying. They don't choose to have their safe-haven violated.

The usuall Clattertrap garbage from the "Pro-Life" wacko's. Oddly enough, the Pro-lifers are anti-abortion, but usually favor the Death Penalty and the use of the military...I guess only some life is sacred.

Being in favor of a woman being able to choose, is not the same thing as pro-abortion.

I've seen the Pro-Lifers, nothing more than thugs with Bibles, and I was glad when they finally busted "Operation Rescue" under the Rico laws, couldn't have happened to a more deserving crowd.

they are "pro-choice", they are not "supporting abortion". There is a huge difference. When you say "supporting abortion", you make it obvious that you do not even consider the life of the mother. That is a completely one-sided thing to do. Do you feel it is fair for someone to tell a 12 year old girl that was raped by her abusive step-father "tough luck, either deal with it or put it up for adoption"?

-To say that the union supports "abortion on demand" shows a complete lack of insight into the process and a complete misunderstanding of the process. She will lose.

That is not the point. They are not seriously asking or forcing her to change her religion. They are trying to emphasize the point that she is a member of a group (a union) that believes in certain, specific things. If she does not believe or support the things that the group supports...why is she a member of that group.

Perhaps she needs to leave that union!

She has a voice in her union. She was obviously out voted. She can pay union dues, LIKE ANYONE ELSE, or leave the union. If she opposes what the union is doing politically, she can address it in a political manner. I opposed the war in Iraq...did I get my tax dollars back that went to support that effort? I oppose the formation of publicly funded Christian schools....called charter schools.....do I get my tax dollars back?

Feel sorry about born and grown humans who are being killed overseas, not about UNBORN humans.

Why is it that most "pro-lifers" are for the Death Penalty?

What a moronic bunch of idiots, really.

This is why government should stay completely out of religion. They need to not make exceptions for ANY religion.
