It's the sound your intestines when it's trying to pass food but the food isn't there, so it's practically passing "air".

It growls because ur stomach is trying to absorb nurients and food that it doesnt have. Ur stomach wont growl if it has food to absorb to the liver, etc... Its kinda like when you are hot and sweating. Its just ur body's attempted to repair what is not functioning properly. Wow i m such a geek!!!!!!

It doesn't, its just the stomache bile churning up inside you and emptying into the intestines and its like a toilet flushing, its going down. So you feel a slight emptiness in your stomache but its just food churning up.

Muscle contrations combined with the fluid in your stomach, basically you're trying to digest stuff that isn't there.
