I called my guy on Monday... we live in different cities... and he said he was getting ready to go to meeting.. (AA) and so I say ok bye... and I don't hear from him... I try and call once on Wed, no answer, so Saturday send him email letting him no my uncle has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and wanted some info about treatment programs and he sends back email with info, says hope you are ok and sorry haven't spoken... so I try and call and he doesn't answer and never called me back either time... am I overreacting... I dont' think if someone really cares they don't call or something in 5 days and then send an email saying that... I am confused and dont' know whether to call him or let it go?? Any thoughts, suggestions...

Someone who really cares about you will make time for you when something that painful crops up in your life. Focus on your family and when the time is right you'll find someone who will treat you with the respect and concern you deserve.

if he didnt show much concern about the news of your uncle, beyond sending you some info, he either doesnt care much, or isnt capable of it
living in other cities and him being in aa on top of it, i'd say cut your losses

five days is a bit too long for "busy". Maybe he just doesn't have the courage to tell it to you straight, so why don't you figure out a way to talk to him and ask? Life's really too short to spend it worrying about a person who seems like he doesn't care, you know?

i do not think you are overreacting.He is just not coming clean to you maybe because he does not want to hurt your feelings.I would just move on sorry to tell you.
