can i do this with subtle results i.e. after a week half my hair being blonde and or looking like i have had highlights, and what products are there, preferable not really expensive ones

You don't want to go cheap when it comes to your hair, you'll fry it. The best one is L'Oreal Creme, Medium Golden Blonde
