Is it wrong to get angry and mad? Jesus got mad at the moneychangers in the temple and turned over their tables. Does this example tell us it is okay to get angry?

Anger is a normal emotion, just like any other one. God does not condemn anger. He condemns the misuse of it. When Jesus knocked over tables in the temple, it was because the moneychangers were making a mockery of the temple and defiling it by their commercialism and greed. He was making a powerful statement that their actions were wrong. Now, Jesus would never have punched people in the face or lost control. It is fine to be angry. It's not fine to let our anger control us. If a lesson is learned or a wrong made right by our anger, then the anger is useful. If someone is hurt by it, then we have sinned.

Anger is an "emotion. "
Emotion is "Energy in Motion".
If anger is Energy, then how can the energy be wrong. Energy has not positive or negative. It simply gives you a choice to use it for good or bad.
So if you are angry and there is some underlying issue, look at it.
Anger usually arises when the ego is hurt. When someone is making a point and it is not herad/ respected/ validated. It is a moment one wants to show their authority and cannot. This makes one feel inferior. So other old things also arise to surface where the person remained quiet when he/she should've spoken. So they burst out.
You can choose to surrender your ego in that very moment of hurt. And turn it to your advantage.
Like Gandhi was angry when he faced racism in South Africa. But he turned it to his advantage and became a great leader.
So, that is how anger can charge your life.
At times is is good to shout also because it frees you up.
If you get angry you can try running, boxing on a pillow, jumping, kickboxing in fitness studio, hitting the ground with thick pillow, put on the music to the full volume and shout, dance ...
Anger can be positive too.

The Bible says to be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: The Bible doesn't tell us we shouldn't feel angry, but it points out that it is important to handle our anger properly. If ventilated thoughtlessly, anger can hurt others and destroy relationships. If bottled up inside, it can cause us to become bitter a,d destroy us from within. Paul tells us to deal with our anger immediately in a way that builds relationships rather than destroying them. If we nurse our anger, we will give Satan an opportunity to divide us. Are you angry with someone right now? What can you do to resolve your differences? Don't let the day end before you begin to work on mending your relationship.

The Bible also says "in your anger do not sin." So it is not wrong to get angry, but sinning is still forbidden.

Ephesians 4:26
"In your anger do not sin" : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

Colossians 3:7-9 (New International Version)

7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices

I believe the last scripture speaks of a life style. Notice that Jesus rarely got angry. While it is not sin it leads to a progression that is sin.

No. Anger is an emotion -- it comes from very elemental structures in our brain and it evolved for a purpose, to motivate us and bring about change in a situation we consider unfair or dangerous. One cannot control the generation of feelings: they spring from the limbic system and usually by the time the conscious mind is aware of them, they're already in existence. Like all emotions, anger simply "is".

Now, what you DO when you feel angry... that can be helpful or harmful, right or wrong if you like. I'd say that when you're angry it's important to pause and consider your actions before you act.

The guiding principle when dealing with anger should be Ephesians 4:26-27: In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

strong drink and drugs like PcP will cause RAGE so there might be other intoxicants that will also cause ANGER.

but elsewhere it clearly says being angry without a cause is like calling someone RACCA or FOOL, or I might add: mentally ill online, they shall all be in danger of judgment.

It is not a sin if it does not stay long. Before sundown. Do not dwell on your anger. A person should have self-control.
Anger cause lots of trouble: ailments and sickness.
