I have a 3 year old girl that refuses to potty train.. it is quite frustrating.. any pointers?? we have tried everything.. she goes once in awhile but she is really stubborn and will still poop her self or stand in the middle of the living room look down and pee on the floor.. we have tried explaining but it seems useless.. I have a doctors apointment to discuss this with him but perhaps some pointer from parents that might have had the same issues might help as well.. all of your comments and pointer would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like it might be a control issue for your daughter. I recommend backing off of the potty training temporarily to ease the pressure, while increasing the amount of control she has over other areas of her life. Give her choices that are acceptable to you, but stick with only two choices (like outfits to wear, food to eat, books to read, etc). This might help her feel like she has a little more control in her life and help ease the pressure and her desire to control less desirable aspects of her life (like potty training!). It probably won't completely solve the problem, but it should help, I hope. Good luck!
