I would be so mad if my parents evaded my privacy. They have no right to invade my privacy, especially since they have no reason to.

Sure. I know but I'm like the most responsible kid in the world. If I know that adults would not approve, I would not do it. You know the thought of my parents not knowing me enough to trust me makes me mad.

My teen daughter and I have an extraordinary relationship. She's a respectful and loving daughter. She's a driven student and an exemplary person. She's a kind sister and a devoted grand daughter. Raising her is the accomplishment I'm most proud of.

As I'm typing this, I've sent my teenager to her room for arguing with me! ;o) But aside from an occasional spat, we get along extremely well.

I just read your details. I agree that if parents have absolutely no reason to look through their kids stuff, they shouldn't.

I don't have teenage kids, but I was a teenager few years back, my relationship with my parents weren't that great, mainly because they nag too much and I felt like I have no privacy( They would come into the room, check my drawer and also opened my mail.)
Our relation didn't get better until I graduated from college and moved out, from where I stand right now, I'm laughing at my self for spending so much time to argue with them for silly things, I really thank them for being strict with me, or else I probably stray like many of my friends in high school and wouldn't have what I have today.

My mom and I had a really close awesome relationship until I moved out when I was 18, now we're just like two adults chatting about life who say "I love you" at the end of the phone conversation.

Sorry, but your parents do have the right and responsibility to know what you are doing. As long as you live in their house. I have snooped on my son and he is an adult, because he has brought illegal substances into my home and tried to hide them. When I found some sick pot plants "growing" in a cabinet he claimed he was growing it for me because I had cancer and was doing chemo.

Your parents want what is best for you and some day you will thank them for doing what they are supposed to do, namely be your parents.
