My father already filled the FAFSA out and submitted it. I'm just a bit worried because for a couple of areas he left blank, not even a "0". Is this going to be a major problem?

it may increase your chances of being selected for verification. verification means your school is required by the dept of education (the "owners" of the FAFSA) to request copies of the documents you used to complete the FAFSA. then the financial aid office will check the information you reported.

when you don't enter zeroes and just leave answers blank, the processor of the FAFSA doesn't know if you forgot to fill in the information or what.

if you've submitted the FAFSA and there wasn't an asterisk after your EFC, then you weren't selected by the dept of ed. depending on what questions your dad left blank and your school's policy on who they verify, you may be selected by your school.

or not. it may not matter at all.

isn't financial aid fun? haha. regardless, if you're chosen, it's no big deal. next time, just make sure he enters zeroes. :)

Unfortunately, it may or may not. Make sure the FAFSA is filled out correctly, because it is illegal knowingly putting incorrect information on there. The 0 EFC, or not putting 0's in the amounts CAN be an issue. If the Department of Education didn't select you, it's possible for your college to select you as well. Every college is required to select 30% of their students for verification, along with the random Department of Education. I know with the school I work for, if you or you're parents have less than a $5000 income we are going to select you. Also, a lot of schools look at if your income or anything else drastically changed from 1 year to the next.

Also, keep in mind, that it is required to fill out the FAFSA to your best knowledge, but if you go on and make corrections yourself, the chances are high that you'll get selected for verification.

All and all, if it's incorrect, it can be fixed no problem. If you have any questions at all about it, email me. I'd be glad to help

I really don't think it should be a problem.
