Funny how they were taught to love their neighbors at church, then the minute they walked out they taunted those poor colored folks?

The "majority" of white Christians? I don't think so. The South isn't the entire United States, in case you were napping during History classes. And even in the South, there were plenty of white Christians who didn't hate blacks. More on that in a moment.

I'm old enough to remember the '50's, and there were plenty of Christians who loved their neighbors, no matter what their skin color was. My grandparents were good examples of that.

They were from Kentucky, and my grandpa helped out all of his neighbors -- white or black. He was quicker to help a black family, though, because he said that they'd already suffered enough. And he was a white Christian, BTW.

Stories like those get lost in the headlines, but they do exist. It's just easier to ignore all the good and focus on the bad when you want to discredit an entire group, though, isn't it?

I don't know if it was the majority of white Christians. It is a problem that we get caught up in the sins of our society. I hope the Church has repented of this in the last few years. Sin in this world affects Christians too.

My parents were white Christians back then, and although I won't say they didn't have some mistaken notions, we used to have the only black person in town over for dinner often, because my mom liked to give all the old bachelors a home-cooked meal.

It's funny how people use every reference except the Bible to tell Christians what they believe. A Christian doesn't believe what 'christians' say they do either. They believe the Bible. That's how you know who the Christians are. Read the New Testament. It will tell you who they are. Believers didn't call themselves Christians - non-believers did. It means 'little Christs', and they called them that because they behaved as Jesus did. With that in mind, read the knew Testament, and you will learn to tell the difference. It is very likely that the people you speak of are no more Christian then you are.

What you fail to see is the fact that they were not Christians at all. If they had loved Christ in reality, instead of just claiming to love Him, they would not have been hating anybody, black or otherwise. Do you claim that you personally knew the majority of white Christians in the 1950's? If so, how do you know, or where is your proof that they hated black folks? If you have any, how is it that you know that they were Christians? You cannot have such proof, because as I have already demonstrated, they were NOT in fact Christians, and so your entire question is dismissed as a feeble attempt to discredit Christianity without merit. Good day to you.

I don't believe that a MAJORITY of white folks hated blacks even in the 50's. They might have thought of them as inferior and pitied them. They might have hoped the blacks would just "stay in their place". But this doesn't mean hatred, only ignorance. I believe the majority may have been taught things that just were not true.

Yes I agree, it was a pitiful time. Not completely wiped out... the hate and ignorance I mean, we came a long way. Thou it does not give us reason to blame the word the truth, our Father and son Jesus Christ.

The Bible never condone any hate among his own creation, and because some people used the truth and turned it to a lie does not mean the bible is false. It only means that they manipulated the word for they're own benefits, too justify they're actions. God Bless. Love. Amen.

Why waste your time on the worrying about what happened in the 50's. You can't change it so why not focus on today when your behavior and attitude toward others could actually make a difference. Pointing fingers at something that happened 50 years ago, and for your information the one who felt that way weren't nearly a majority.

Being a Christian doesn't make you perfect. We won't be perfect until we get to heaven. Not all who claim to be Christians truly are. To be a Christian means to acknowledge you are a sinner in need of a saviour. Christ is that saviour. God sent his son Jesus to die as payment for all sin. To believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came and died and rose again as payment for your sin, and to confess to Him you are a sinner and repent (turn away from) your sin, He will save you. At that moment, He gives you the Holy Spirit, who guides you. Even then, we are prone to sin. But the bible tells us when we receive Christ, He gives us power over Satan. As Christians, we don't always use the power that God has so lovingly given us. But when we do knowingly sin, we should confess it to God. Satan is powerful and the bible says that Satan is the prince and the power of the air. Just look at all the sin in the world. Even though Satan knows he was defeated by the cross, he still tempts us and trys to cause doubt. But Jesus is coming again and then Satan will be removed from the earth and cast into the bottomless pit.

The problem in christianity is when you teach people that Jesus died for their sins, then like we say If we are not accoutable for our actions and no work accepted by God, so what is it that God need from us? why he created us for? then what was the message of all the prophets?

I am muslim, Islam is total submission to the will of God.
There is no deity that has the right to be worshiped but God. anything you worship beside God is disbelieve.
Jesus peace be upon him was a great prophet and is free from what is happening in the world in his name.

Just look how his teachings were and look at the teachings of any prophet of God and you will understand. look at the teaching of the last prophet of God, Muhammad and see how their is unity under one God. just look at the time of pilgrimage you will see all the colors, all nationalities, all languages praying , eating together , sleeping in the same areas, no differences, no racism, never. we are brothers whever they come from. we don't have this sense of hate for black people, we don't even know this feeling, we can't have it in Islam.
Islam is for everybody, because it is from God, he created us equal. we need to worship God the way he wants us to worship him not our way.
the jews think they are saved. if you are not jew, then you can't be saved.
the christians cliam that Jesus is God or son of God that died for the sins of man.
Muslims believe that the message of God never changed, the prophets taught the same message. they showed people the way to worship God.

" poor colored folks?" NOW THAT IS RACIEST !

I would dispute your assertion that "The Majority White Christians" "Hated Blacks"

Racism was a fact of Life for many Years, but if a person is Raciest they don't know Jesus Christ as their Savior, no matter what Church they attended.
