When she gets excited she will try and ride either myself or my husbands leg why does she do this? I thought it was only males that did this.

its nothing sexual. its about whos dominate. you need to show her you and your husband are the alpha dogs. some things dogs do with in their own group to establish whos boss is you could put your hand on your puppies neck and GENTLY push her down until shes laying with her head down. hold it for a few seconds and then let her up. make sure you play with her and praise her after. this will teach her you 2 are in charge and she will stop her behavior.

As others wrote, this is not a sexual act (in fact, "humping" is never sexual, despite how it appears - dogs mate in a very different format than "humping"). Plus, your pup is WAY too young to mate.

However, dogs do try to establish dominance at a very early age. I have two pups, both 7 months (both male). They will "hump" each other at times to try to show who is "the boss". However, both they and I have been trained - and I am clearly the "alpha dog" in the group. They have never tried to hump me and fully respect me.

Your dog is too young to be trained. But around 4 months - after she's had all her vaccinations, I would consider it. The younger both you and she start training classes (and trust me, you get trained as much as the dog), the better. This will help you to learn what steps need to be done to establish yourself as "in control". These steps do NOT include hitting, yelling or rubbing her nose in anything. I have found a good stare or simple hand gesture sometimes to be more effective than anything else.

I also recommend spaying her around 5 months (before her first heat). This will decrease the likelihood of her wanting to be the "top dog".

Good luck and enjoy your puppy!

Yeah, it's perfectly fine! I gave my friend's Golden Retriever a vanilla flavoured bone from Wilkinsons when he was 10 weeks old too (He's 1 now) and he still loves the bone even though it smells like his doggy breath now!

I have a female Golden and have had her since she was 3 months. I don't think what you mentioned is a "sexual problem."

From what I understand that's just her way of trying to show dominance. Yes, it's more likely for males to do that. But I've seen females do the same thing. She may or may not grow out of it.

Deary me, 10 weeks! That's one sexual b!tch!!!
On a serious note she is probably just very excitable and if you turn your back on her and ignore her she will most likely stop doing this in time. If you shout and push her away she will think "hey they are just excited as am, wey-hey".

she is trying to become the alpha dog. dont let her do this or else in her mind she will become alpha dog and she might develop some probloms such as agression she will be happier and more relaxed if she knows she has the role of the follower instead of the alpha

it's not sexual by any stretch of the imagination. It is a form of both play and attempting to assert dominance

It is quite common. Nothing to worry about. She is trying to show dominance over you. It is not a sexual act.
