It is not difficult to get parts for Rovers - the parts business was a separate company, owned by Caterpillar Logistics, and is still in operation. See http://www.xpart.com/
If you do buy a Rover 200 or 25, go for the newest 200 or earliest 25 possible - one built under BMW's ownership of Rover. In 2002 MG Rover cut cost out of the 25, and one of the savings was by reducing the corrosion protection. Expect to see rusty late 25s long before you see rusty 1996 200s on the roads. Avoid the 1.6 and 1.8-litre models (the "big-block" K-series engine can suffer head-gasket sealing problems) - the diesels seem to be very reliable.

no way pls do not buy a Rover, all Rover drivers seem to be total idiots, reckon it`s because they have all the go faster add ons before he company went under so they drive like it`s a Subaru Impreza WRX.
try to get a Honda Civic V Tech, the engine has never had a recall due to reliability problems as its a great petrol unit, problem is the cars are prone too rust.
otherwise look for a Peugeot 406 HDi all Puggits are galvanised, so no rust, and the diesels go on for ever, over 250K miles easy ;)

pls do not buy a rover of any type. They stopped making and selling them for a reason. Buy Japanese, more reliable, more cred, more stylish, more practical, more likely to last the pace.

I believe the K series engine is not as reliable as it should be due to problems with head gasket failure which can cause overheating. It was a problem that Rover never really sorted out.

Of all the cars never, never, ever buy a Rover of any description. They are complete sh*it.
Buy a Japanese car, superbly built, quality engineering and ultra-reliable. get one with a comprehensive service history and you won't be disappointed.
NO, NO, NO ROVERS!!

Rovers have no parts problems yet but are cheap to buy and becoming cheaper - still worth a look if you see one that you like
The Civic will have more street cred and hold its value better - but are owned by chavs!

Don't worry about parts you will still be able to get parts for rovers new & from scrap yards for years to come.I ve had rovers p5 , 213, sd1 & 420sli,& can not fault any of them - good cars for low money - modern Rovers are basicaly Hondas with a diferent badge both are good cars.
