It all depends on who's using the techniques. Wrestling is one of the most effective styles in MMA, so I'd have to say given two top level practicioners, the wrestler would win. But a high school jv wrestler could never beat Steven Segal.

in a grappling match wrestling ,but in a street fight hands down akido.wresting is effective on the street but you dont get tought like a self defence style it is tought as a sport . akido teaches you the pressure points and this is very dangours. but akido take a long time to master . wrestling is a fast road to fitness and self defence .

Wrestling, hands down. Tougher, faster, in better condition. One good move is all it would take.
I remember watching a televised match between a boxer and a karate black belt. The boxer took him out with the first good punch to the head. It was over so fast it was embarrassing.

And now I'm getting thumbs down for telling the truth? Come on.

Wrestler. Why? because I've never see Aikido work on defense against shoot (the main weapon of wrestler) or ground fighting.

Plus wrestler tend to be really fit. It's a incredible tough sport. I remeber one year I was on wrestling team, the drop out rate was around 40% because it was so hard.

akido is pretty good at its counter and self-defense but wrestling requires great strength which makes it a strong offense. i think akido will win.

it could go either way, the aikido is a very good counter to the hardness of wrestling. if the aikidoka is good enough the wrestler wont be able to touch him.

it all depends on the person but i think if both person had around 1 year of training, the wrestler would win but a higher level of aikido would kick butt

Ya never know! All styles have something good to offer. But if I'm a gamblin man, I'll put my money on the wrestler. Please don't be offended by my answer.
