I get mine from Costco, and I think they are great! They are a really mild fish. I cook them with butter and garlic. Yummy!

Well, that's a matter of opinion -- or taste!

Fishmongers usually sell tilapia to the lower end market (rather than five-star restaurants) and it is popular in ethnic cuisines, such as Mexican, Japanese and African dishes.

The taste of tilapia varies based on what kind of water it's from. It's found in both salt water and fresh water.

As for me, I'll pass on the tilapia. There are a lot better tasting fish.

They are. A lot of people who have lived in tropical regions have bad thoughts about them because they are usually found in drainage ditches and such. Most if not all of the tilapia you buy at the store is farmed.

They are great! I love to put a filet in some tinfoil, pour some lemon juice on top of it and season with garlic and dill, sometimes I throw some yellow and red peppers on top and wrap up and bake on 250 degrees for about 10 min. thawed 20 min. frozen or until it flakes! Yum. It is easy for clean up as well.

My husband and I have tried it, and we love to eat it now ... not 'exclusively' but about 1/4 of the time ... we fix it either with 'breading' and cook it in the oven, or cook it in butter and wine with some Italian seasoning on the top of the stove in a 'frying pan.'

It is a very mild tasting fish, that takes on the flavors of whatever you are cooking it in/with. I usually cook it with garlic, stewed tomatoes and a little white wine.

Yes, they are ... my husband really likes catfish, and I can't stand it, but we both really like tilapia. They have a nice mild flavor.
