Hi Bill1,
No, the lack of concentration and forgetfulness is just part of the depression and medication I believe. I to have the exact same problem so it can't be that uncommon, however it gets very frustrating at times and depending on the situation a little embarrassing. I'm on the Welbutrin and Cymbalta but I find it's not that helpful at all. at least the medication is working for you and that is something to be very thankful for, despite the forgetfulness. I hope this answers your question.

I suggest finding a reference for your medications and seeing if they might be affecting your memory. Most people have occasional difficulty with short-term memory because of a lack of concentration or because other concerns are getting in the way. Perhaps the thoughts that are contributing to your depression are also contributing to your memory problems, because your mind is focusing on them instead. Everybody experiences the "walk to the kitchen and....what did I come here for" - it's very normal. Again, it's a matter of lack of focus. Modern life has too many things to think about sometimes. By the way, the trick to dealing with the "kitchen walk" type of thing is to physically go back to where you thought of what you wanted to do. Your "mission" will come back to you, and you'll remember it this time, because your focus has increased. Check the side effects of the medications first, and if memory loss isn't there, see your doctor.

Dont listen to these people. Im 27 and i do that. Talk to your doc to be sure, but my problem has always been and will probably always be stress related, and i bet yours is too.
When you are depressed, your mentallity is completely different than someone who can handle the 40000000 things going on during the day.
For me, its a pain in the neck to try to juggle so many things, even if the things are simple. I've had problems with depression, and i've learned now its only natural to be forgetful when you dont sleep well or you sleep too much, you are on different medications, you worry about everything, and things just seem harder.
talk to your doc, maybe add a new multi-vitamin to your daily schedule. Remember to try to exercise some every day if you can. If after you try some stress-relieving things you still have problems or your problems get worse, then worry, because you are losing your mind :P
Good luck!

No your not losing your mind. I'm 48 and memory is a problem. Even though our meds keep us from being severly depressed, the depression hasn't gone away, and that can cause memory problems. Stress is a huge factor also. You don't have alzheimers. Some meds can cause short term memory lose also, but its reverable when you go off the meds. I have a great site for some memory games if you'd like to play those.

Have fun.

It's rough however you must instruct your kids responsibility. Have a loved ones assembly and assign ongoing "chores". Matters that have got to be executed per week or every day, anything works. Then no exceptions. If it's now not performed, that child goes nowhere/no tv/video video games/laptop except it is. Be powerful. Don't be so tough on your self. If you do not get the whole thing accomplished, you're quite often the one one noticing (due to the fact it is a house of men). If your hubby isn't complaining that his smooth laundry remains to be within the basket and now not within the drawers - let it go! Experience existence and do not stress a lot!

No that sounds normal I do that all the time, so do many others. If your meds are not working you should talk with your doctor. Make sure you are also receiving Psychotherapy it is a important part of treatment!

Your not loosing your mind. I do this a lot, too. Though, you probably don't get in trouble for forgetting things. Hahaha. Maybe talk to your doctor to see what it could be.
