My 7yr old niece is coming to visit for 1 week but I still have to go to work. Does anyone know of a program or child care that'll take a child for one week, or that's willing to allow a child to sign up for one week? Anything please! I live in Van Nuys, CA.

I have used local daycares in my area for my kids on a irregular basis as well. I would call a few that are close to your home and check on this and prices. The other thing that I used was several churches in the area have a program called mom's day out. Most have signs outside the church advertising it. Good luck!

How about the YMCA........or the kids sub division of this, locally they have some pretty good programs for the kids although maybe they have more during the school holidays........
Can you maybe do half days during that week OR change her visit to a time that's when you can spend more time with her, if the visit is for a family emergency then I suggest throwing your self on the mercy of your work and seeing if you can do the half day thing with her coming in and sitting QUIETLY in the corner reading writing, colouring etc at 7 she can more than cope with that sort of thing for a short time.
Do you have any friends that already have kids [maybe a stay at home mum one] where she can go with you giving mum some cash for helping out.

Check with social services in your area, as well as the child care facilities in your vacinity. Some do allow a child to sign up on a week to week basis, you just have to hunt for them.

Alot of cities offer emergency day care services. Call a day care centre to ask them or look in the yellow pages.

Do you have a friend who could babysit? That's probably your best bet! You may need to take the week off or look in your paper for a babysitter.

I would try home daycare first because they are more flexible and may be able to help you.Try the yellow pages for their numbers or Babysitters.com.Good Luck.
