I got my rook peirced over a year ago. It took it a year to heal & I still have problems with it. I'm still debating if I want to get the other one done, because of all the problems I've had.

The rook. For sure. The cartilage is curved there, and thicken. So the actual piercing really just takes a little longer, and therefor is more painful. I found that healing time was longer for the rook also. I was able to sleep on the tragus after about three weeks with no pain. The rook, well, more like three months, and it still gets sore from time to time.

During the actual piercing process, both the rook and tragus were about the same pain level for me. however, in the healing process...I considered taking out my rook. It was constantly aching and sleeping was a *****.
Now, after only 3 months, they're both fine and dandy

i have heard they are oth equally the same. rook, tragus, anti-tragus, and conch are thicker pieces of cartilage. i got my rook pierced almost 3 weeks ago. and i LOVE IT! it did hurt. but only as much as my other 3 cartilag piercings. they are helix. for me i put a piece of jewelry on "captive bead ring"and for come reason. it hurt more on one spot. and where i wanted it done. (closer ot the inside of my ear) it didnt hurt hat much when i pinched it.. but it actually hurt me less than the helix piercings.. i was very nervous. i had a few friends from work with me. (we all got piercings) 2 of them got their tragus done and said it didnt hurt them lol. then it was MY TURN! i kept moving away anticipating the needle. the guy would tell me that i was moving and to stop. i didnt realize i was moving. but it was a bit painful. liek any other piercing lol. i got mine with a cuved barbell evern t hough i dont liek how the curved barbrll looks due to healing purposes. easier to heal than with a captive bead ring.! btu it took him a while to screw on the balls and the rook does bleed. so it tk him a while to make sure i stpoped bleeding. it was sore for abotu a week. at one time i felt like tearing it out cause my ear was throbbing! but i overcame the pain and now it perfectly fine! but both will be painful. piercings whether painful or not depends on the level of pain tolerance they have (for example i didnt shed one tear when i dislocated my knee 6 years ago) lol ...but get it done! its only a temporary pain! its over quickly and its now by far my favorite!
just dot he sea salt soaks! they help otu alot!

The rook by far...I've had my tragus done on both sides and I didn't even feel it (due to the clamp).
