Is she sitting in or on them? Either way, don't worry. One of my cats will sit in any bag that is left around, even the plastic ones from the supermarket.
If she is not a kitten and hasnt been declawed then there are no worries, she can always slit the bag with her claws if she feels the need to get out in a hurry. But if you are really worried, don't leave the bags around where she can get into them.

Cats are loving creatures who never cease to amuse us. They will sit on a newspaper and if you try to move it pick a fight with the edges. They love carrier bags, hopefully they should be rendered safe i,e cut off the handles so your cat doesn't strangle itself and cut a hole in or two just on the offchance its gets temporarily stuck. A clockwork toy in a bag is great fun for your cat.
Cats also like bubble wrap, they will jump and walk on it and snap all the bubbles in the process. Ever watched a cat chasing air. Madness.
They prefer a bag to have something in it so that they can exercise there curiosity. Ever opened a box and found that no matter what size it is your cat is trying to get in it.
What about having lino or carpet fitted. So the fitter carries in the roll your cat thinks the roll is the latest toy and starts to run in and out along the length of the roll. As the fitter is working your cat decides to familiarise itself with him and his tools or tool box. The job takes a wee while longer to finish. But you have all had a bit of fun watching.
Enjoy having your cat.

I don't think "normal" is the right word here. Cats love plastic bags... I think it's the sound that drives them crazy. It should be fine if your cat plays with it or sits on it (probably sits on it because it's cool), but be careful because if it gets the handle part around its neck there could be trouble. When you leave the room, get the air out of the bag, tie it in a knot and put it away, just to be safe. =)

Don' t worry your cat will be fine. I don't know why they like doing it but they generally do, one even loves being put in a plastic bag (with the top open of course!!). My one cat is scared of the noise of a plastic bag but if she can sit on it quietly without it russling she is okay!!
Just don't leave her alone with a plastic bag as if she got into trouble you wouldn't be around to help.

Yer thats completely normal, my cat loves doing that. Most time when ive been shopping or things like that and theres an empty plastic carrier bag on the floow shell always wanna sit on it or get in the bag, she does that same with other bags. Most cats like exploring new things, its real sweet how they wanna do things like that i think lol x

It is perfectly normal. I was worried too so I bought my cat a toy bag from the pet shop. It crinkles like a plastic bag but is meant to be safer. My cat spends hours playing in it.

Ha ha ha, of course it's okay, my cats do that, too! Sitting a a carrier bag is not going to suffocate a cat.

it is pretty normal for cats to sit on things like bags and newspaper and boxes, particularly if you are needing to get to any of those items. it's new. it's a toy. it's a source of entertainment for them. they often like the way it crinkles. it will grab your attention and you will say,"awww, how cute". if your cat is going INSIDE the bag and hanging out there, then that may be a bit. strange. cats are pretty smart, survivalistic animals, but if you are really worried, take the bag away. your cat will get over it. i'd be more concerned out your cat eating rubber bands or stuff on the floor.
