i use audacity it is a great fantastic program. it will do many things. record, play, special effects, convert, you can remove voices from most music as well as make karaoke files. the best part is this program is free! i have many audio programs i bought but i use audacity 90% of the time. do a yahoo search for audacity and you can download it for free. hope this helps.

Maybe you are saving the audio at a low bitrate. You need to save the file as a 192 MP3 or up. Or for WAV 16bit 44.1 or up. Check your options button/tab on whatever program you are using.

I like Audacity. It's freeware and you can tweak it a lot. I have used it to record family audiotapes that are on cassette that were recorded originally on reel to reel in the 1960s. I can slow down, speed up, clear out noise, and generally edit to my heart's content. Convert to mp3 with a simple fix they give you.

I use 'DVD AUDIO EXTRACTOR'. Download it from CNET.com or Tucows.com. It also works on mpegs on hard drives. The free version only records 1/2 until you pay like $30.
