I heard that when they take out for child support they can only take out of state and not federal... is that true? If not, what do they take out of? Just curious.

Child support is not tax deductible if you are paying it. Child support is taken directly from an employees check if he is paying child support Court Ordered or if willingly paid they must make out a form before the employer can take it out. It's payed out after taxed dollars.

Might depend on the state.

A friend of mine got it taken out of both federal and state refund.
Lost it all to child support.

They will take it out of both, but note: only to re-pay themselves for support they've given to the chil(ren). They will not lift a finger to collect it and turn it over to the mother (children). Just FYI.

If you are asking if FMS can deduct unpaid child support from your refund, it can be captured from both state and federal refunds.
