Do Muslims eat shellfish?

I need to know if they have a dietary rule in this category.

According to the Qu'ran they are allowed to eat any meat coming from the sea.

i believe the answer is "no" - in fact in bible shellfish are not permitted and believe it or not, muslim diets are similar to jewish dietary rules.

some shellfish such as lobster and crab are bottom dwellers and eat other dead animals and fecal matter and may be seen as unclean. Additionally, these shellfish are not slaughtered per se but usually boiled while alive and hence they die. This is usually not seen as permissible.

All in all, I think it is a personal choice of the person and their interpretation of the Qur'an. After all, not all Jews maintain a kosher diet and not all Christians observe Lent.

It's not forbidden to eat shellfish. I've never tried it, but hopefully it tastes good!

Per Qur'an 16:14, Muslim jurists have deemed it permissible to eat any "meat" that comes from the sea. All seafood is therefore deemed halal, permissible.

cool! i am studying this in school! Ummmmmm, i think muslims do but jews, hindus, and buddhists dont. I know this because i am arabic, ( even though i have blue eyes and blond hair )

we eat shellfish
but eating (pork , blood , dead animals ,wines)are forbidden
