So, I met this guy on match.com...he lives an hour away. We have been talking for 4 months now. I asked him to be my Valentine, he said yes...then I realized that there may be a chance that we will meet on Valentine's Day! It would be our first meeting! So, if this does happen...does anyone have any ideas on how we can still have fun, be safe, and not get caught up in the moment of Valentine's Day? Right now, dinner and a movie sounds too romantic.

my husband and i met online as well- we met face to face just 4 days after we met online (and talked non-stop until then) when i was ready to meet him face to face, i asked him to drive 3 hours to pick me up for the weekend... we haven't been apart more than a few days at a time since then. yes, sometimes it is dangerous to meet ppl online, but sometimes you have got to take the bull by the horn and go for it. i'm very glad i did.

as for something to do- it really wont matter if what you do is romantic or not, just being together will make it so. our first stop after he picked me up was the mall near where he lived... we had dinner in the food court at his favorite chinese take out place and he bought me a necklace with a grain of rice inside that had my name on it. (the lady who wrote the name offered to put his name on the back, but i said no- i didnt want him to feel funny about it) we then browsed another favorite for both of us, an old used book shop... and finished the evening with a ride on the carosel.

i have never had any regrets about that day except for not putting his name on the rice.

its not what you do, but who you do it with.

happy valentines day

I know exactly what you mean.
Go for it.
You want to stay prude that's your problem. Dont bring other people down with you or farther than you already have if that is the case as you demonstrate here.
If you haven't already set your boundaries with him and been talking all kinds of sexy or whatever just to keep his attention, then that is the bed you have made for yourself.
So either lay in it or move on from him completely.
Dinner and a movie is too romantic for 16 year olds maybe.
Do something congenial & plutonic like Dave N Buster's or coffee house. Dont get a hotel room involved. Dont go drinking.

you idea is romantic but a way to have fun is this:
call your local zoo and ask them if they offer a nightly feeding and tour type thing if they do sign up you and you secret Valentine. Trust me this is so much fun! and if you are a adult then go to a movie after wards.
Happy Valentine's day
