We went out for 5 years & he broke up with me 2 months ago- in that time we have still been talking. I know i shouldnt but i dont want to loose him out of my life all together. I need help with how to get over him.. i know if i keep talking to him im not going to get over him but i can help it. Some times i hate him & want nothing to do with him but other times i wanna be his friend still. I dont know what to do..... i know i should just move on but cant!!!!

I was with my wife for 11 years and found out she had cheated for 2 years, i was devastated, it felt like my life was over and i wanted to die, i didnt sleep for a solid week, stopped eating and lost 35 lbs in a month and became very ill. I know how it feels, its like a piece of you is missing and that noone could ever compare to what you had and it consumes you, every song that comes on, people you knew , reminds you of him, your daily routine has become tragic at best, it has been over a year for me, i forced myself to date, and went through 25 or more different women, when id just about lost all hope i met a woman that seems somewhat normal, nothing will ever replace what you had, but eventually you will meet someone, no matter how different you will get used to it and have no choice but to move on, good luck to you its gonna be tough but life goes on and you have to go on as well

Tell him you really want him in your life, but you need time away to get your own life in order. Ask him if he'd mind if you called in 6 months to get together for coffee and catch up as friends...and STICK TO IT!! You'll never find someone new who thinks you're wonderful until you move on. I REALLY suggest reading "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg Berhent. It sounds cheesy, but it's a great book.

If you're really over him like you say you want to be you wouldn't even entertain the thought of talking to him. Just spend some time alone by yourself, meet other people, and most importantly.... have sex with someone else other than him. Now if you can't handle that then you are a glutton for punishment.

He's your ex for a reason. It's painful to let him go but for now you have to. You need a break. Stop talking to him, for now, until you can clear your head. Being his friend right now is just not an option. But it's possible after time. Time really can heal all wounds.

JK, surround yourself with friends and family(unless if family makes you unhappy, then forget it.) Go to a fair, go shop, run, swim, clean, do something!! Just get your mind off of him. Whatever you think about the most consumes your life:Whether you like it or not. Don't let this consume your life.

I think you need to tell him that you really weant to have him stayi in your life in some form, but for hte time being you cant talk to him. It does make it waaay harder. My ex told me he couldnt talk to me for a while bc it was too hard for him (I broke it off), and I respected that. 4 months later we are now talking again and we are semi-friends. It jsut takes time and space. Be honest about how u feel....
