I need ideas to wear out my four year old in the winter when its raining or dark outside. Hes extremely energetic and if he doesn't burn off his energy somehow he will drive me nuts.

Lots of cities have indoor places for kids to play - you don't have to chow down on McNuggets first ;) Without leaving the house - the kids in my classes have always loved dancing, stretching, simon says (have him be all kinds of animals, he'll love it), and ring around the rosy. Depending on how you run your house, you could let him bounce a ball around - stick to bouncing rather than throwing, do some tumbling or somersaults with him, have a jumping contest - even on the bed. Just mix it up and keep it fun! You'll both have a good time and he'll be able to fall asleep easily :)

Take him to a McDonalds or some other place with an indoor playground. I have a very busy 4 year old girl and a busy 2 year old girl so I know how you feel. Good luck

McDonalds playland......they are wonderful when your child needs to get rid of some energy! My 4 yr old son loves it there! Now that it is winter it is better taking him there than come home and having him jump off furniture and run around the house(both of which isn't allowed!! Try it out....there should be one somewhere near you.

There are some dvds that are exercise for kids. Pop one in the dvd and let him burn off his energy doing the exercises. Play hide and seek in the house. My grandkids love to hide and have me find them. Color. Have him vacuum your living room. Kids love to push it. Let him play games on the computer. There are alot of kid games on the internet he would enjoy! Have fun with him! They grow up fast.

I read my 3yr old daughter books, draw, cook, pretend play with baby dolls. Sometimes you have to get creative and use your imagination. Good luck because some times it is hard for me too.
