Man is supposedly made in God's image (according to Christianity). This would mean that God resembles a human being in appearance and thus has all the major parts that a human has. Why would God, who is supposedly all powerful and exists in a plane of reality we can't understand, need things like arms and legs?

Okay then, lets say man is only made in God's image as far as emotions are concerned. Why would God need emotions?

To answer your question - you have no more an idea how the plane God exists on is. No one has even half the details of what that environment is like.
Why would anyone do anything? Why would anyone make anything at all? Because - they want too.
Why would God have arms and legs and eyes and hair? I would assume he wanted them if he has them. As I understand it, God is Spirit and he is not containable, and being Omnipotent -he can take any form he wishes. Obviously he feels this is the better form. he's God - and God does pretty much what he wants. he's got the power, we don't.

God is Spirit.Spirit cannot feel pain.God Needed Flesh and Blood to Offer himself up as a Sacrifice for our Transgressions.Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.I don't know exactly what God looks like in the spiritual sense but it must be Magnificent.

With God all things are possible.
It's interesting how we assume Gods this way or that way.
Could "in Gods image" also mean free will?
As compared to the animal and other living creatures that must succumb to instinct totally?

God wouldnt, need a body, mind, spirit, hair, or life, he lives in all of us, we a like a puzzle to god, we keep adding pieces to him and subtracting pieces to him. Therefor, us human kind are gods holy body.

If God exists, to paraphrase AC Clarke, God would be not stranger than we imagine, He would be stranger than we CAN imagine.

Not necessarily a visual resemblence. I think he was referring to emotions. Either way, this is really not relevant to anything.
