If you travel from the US then don't forget to also check this site: www.thaifly.com.
I travel back to Thailand every 3 years and I found that sometimes the airline sites are not any cheaper. Usually I went to all the travel sites mentioned above and compare their prices of the same flights with Thaifly. I've been their customer for the last 3 times I went back. Their office is in Chicago and they have an online help which is very convenient and helpful. If a specific airline isn't an issue, then you can find cheaper flights from them too. They are very competitive in terms of their pricing. However, their Hotel pricing is kinda the same as quotes from other travel sites.

The best place to buy cheap tickets is,Google 'HOW TO GET CHEAP FLIGHTS' I use that website everytime I ever buy tickets for traveling. It links you to all of the best online services for buying tickets like 'Priceline','Travelocity' etc....and many more. You just browse each site until you find the best price. You pick your own days for flying, your own times, your own seats and just print out your E-ticket right in your own house which is far better than having actual tickets because if you lose it you just reprint it out.I have some times saved over a $1,000 less than what a travel agent was trying to get me to pay.And if you do take my advice and you read the paragraph above the list of internet sites then completely disregard where it says that often going directly to the airline itself can get you the lowest price. That is absolute nonsense if you check it for yourself and see. What you will see is the #1 most expensive way in the world to buy a flight.I have no idea why the website wrote that.

I go to Thailand about every three months, last time I booked late (two weeks prior to departure)for December 2006 and managed to get the best deal from CheapoAir.com , since then I have been on their mailing list and have seen many fantastic prices posted on trips to Bangkok.

As was asked, from where? From anywhere in SE asia? Air Asia is pretty cheap. From the US, travelocity or Orbitz.
