I am wondering about filing taxes this year. In 2006 I moved in with my boyfriend around January. I was not yet 18. I worked for about 4 months as a temp and only made 2000.00 or a little over that. I am also a student if that helps. In July I turned 18 and shortly after that my boyfriend and I got married.
I worked for two more months as a temp and made just over 2000.00.
We were wondering if my husband could just claim me and my student loans/grants. He himself only made 12000.00, well like 12140.00.
For almost 6 months we received food stamps if that has any effect. I know it effects my FAFSA.

Yours is simple. Just file as married and follow the instructions on the 1040 Ez. Also check the long form out to, cuz they have a thing about getting a rebate back from the telephone company. Every little bit counts. You all will definitely get your money back.

You know what too. Go to one of the tax sites on line and let them do your taxes. Now you will stop at the point that you will send them. You just want to see how much you get back with them. You can then see if you both got the same amount back at that tax place.

Also you can file electronically. But get the info from the tax booklets at the local postoffice.

Your filing choices are married filing jointly and married filing separately. You'll almost surely do better by filing jointly, even if only one of you had income.
