Well me and my girl of 9 years are going to break up. I wanna break up with her, I love her a lot and all but basically she's going to become a cop and I am a Firefighter and I just can't marry a future cop. Anyway, I suspect she's cheating on me anyway with another cop so hopefully she can get with him. It's just that I need to do my studies and as a career Firefighter I want to meet a lot of women and new people. So hopefully she is cheating on me so I have a way out, because whenever I TRY to end it, she gets all upset and makes me feel bad. I even bluntly told her, "go out with him!" and she said, "you want me to be with him, well thats not happening!" so who cares anymore. im over that.

My thing is, our child. He is only 3, and is it possible for the guy to get full custody?? Anyway I can just man up and end it with her?

Yes, a man can get custody. She sounds like control freak, she'll make a good cop.

Hey first of all if you suspect shes cheating to the point that you told her to go out with the guy, its pretty well over. I'm a 28 year old single mom of 3 little ones and I was in a 10 year marriage, actually with the guy for 13 years and it ended with him wanting to hook up with the preachers daughter. The crazy thing is that we're still really good friends. He can only get full custody if if either you relinquish it legally or if they are able to prove you unfit as a parent. Which it doesn't sound like these are the cases with you.

Ok wow... so I dont fully understand why u couldnt be with a cop... is it the danger she would constantly be putting herself in. If so... then thats hypocritical of you bc firefighters enter into extremely dangerous situations as well....

The kid. Yeah that is really ahrd. You two aren't married? I think it may be easier to fight for FULL custody if you two were married or if she is a bad mother. Why dont you be sure to end it calmly and try to remain on friendly terms with her. She will be more likely to be cooperative about visitation and all that if you guys are on good terms.

Good luck to you and you son.

I am not sure I get why a firefighter can't marry a cop, but whatever. It sounds like you are just looking for an excuse to end it. So end it. Just do what's best for the kid. Don't pull on him in a tug of war.

It is possible for the man to get full custody, especially nowadays. But it would most likely be joint, unless you can prove her unfit to raise a child.

I think that you could gain full custody. Because the mother was cheating on you. But I am not sure.

It was all fine until you mentioned the kid. You man up and work it out. You don't man up and leave. It's always possible you won't get custody or even see him. See how mad you make her - then you'll know.

yeah you should end it you idiot
it's worse to be with her and not love as your wife her than to break up with her
but definetely share the kid cause you dont want to have a son that doesnt know you
+ she is cheating on you
maybe she doesnt love you as a husband either
