I have not been specifically to Long Island but I have been very close. I went to the Great Barrier Reef on my honeymoon (in the month of march) and found out march is right in the middle of its typhoon season. It literally rained (hard) for five straight days. we never saw the reef.

If you desire a Australian honeymoon I would suggest researching the Sydney area or "The Great Ocean Road" near Melbourne. Both have some incredible sights, romantic getaways and plenty to do for couples.

After the trip I ended up living in Australia for four years and strongly recommend the Sydney and Melbourne areas.

Happy travels!

March is wet along the east coast of Australia and it is Sydney's wettest month. The Queensland coast is warm and humid and there is a good likelihood of rain with the possibility of tropical cyclones.
Mackay is just north of Long Island with a similar climate, the averages for March in Mackay are:

Max temp 28.5°C , highest ever 34.7°C
Min temp 22.2°C, lowest ever 13.1
Average RH at 9am 78%
Average RH at 3pm 72%
Average rainfall 260.5mm
Highest monthly rainfall 920.8mm
Highest daily rainfall 388.6mm
Average number of raindays 16
