on xp pro go to the start menu click"run"and type gpedit.msc.on the right double click "user config".then double click "Administrator templates".then double click "system".scroll down to "PREVENT ACCESS TO REGISTRY TOOLS".double click and set the value to "DISABLE"..on xp home edition..restart the computer and tap on the f8 key while the computer is booting up.when you come to the black screen scroll up to safe mode.highlight and press enter.wait for the blue login screen,and click on "ADMINISTRATOR"wait a few seconds and click on "YES"this brings you to the desktop.you can open the registry from here.open the registry and go to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\current version\policies\system.on the right side find "DisableRegistryTools" and delete this value.now go to HKEY_USER\software\...follow the same path and do the same.
