You may have a compulsive disorder associated with high IQs. It can be controlled if you seek help. Some people have to touch an items several time before they picked it up, or some people have an urge to go around and check all the doors, lights and faucets several time before they can finally relax. Check it out online or talk to your doctor.
Oh, I am not saying you are crazy, but just because you have a high IQ, doesn't mean you aren't. You know what I mean?

Your definately not a pessimistic person, you are Optimistic. You may possibly be going through some mentally challenging experiences, but that does not mean your mind is driving you crazy. Introspection, helps us to have a good grip on things for ourselves. Objectively seeing yourself, so to speak, from the outside looking in. This is a learned technique through practicing The Mindfulness of Breathing. It is not difficult to learn.
Anxieties can often make us think we are going crazy, or that something is seriously wrong with us, when in all actuality, there is nothing wrong with us. **What is quite helpful for most people is to learn what is called, "The Mindfulness of Breathing", which greatly improves a person's memory, focus and concentration, and helps us to really see things, people, situations, and ourselves, as they really are! It also generates within us patience, compassion, insight, and self-control."** There are countless benefits which can be attained through the practice of The Mindfulness of Breathing. Simply do a few word searches on your computer through Google, to find a comfortable site for yourself.

I am into complete holistic and natural medicine...and my friend… I don’t think you need a neuro chemical changing drug to help you like other people are saying.
It's natural to have feelings of doubt or negativity in your life.
We are beings of work...striving to find our purpose in this life.
As a Christian, I believe God has a purpose for each one of us and that is why we are here.
But whatever you believe in....sit and think for a minute.
What makes you happy in life? Do you feel that a lot of doors are closing in your life, and you’re not sure where it is going?
Whatever is causing your feelings, it's not because your IQ level isn't high enough!...it most certainly is!!
Some negative things happen in our lives, so that they may pave the way for a better future and good things to come.
Take some time and try to find some goals that you can set out; and that you know you can finish, and feel accomplished.
Also, when your mind tells you something like to push the button ten times, say to yourself," I KNOW I'm not going to turn into that light". And then for complete reassurance... go ahead and push the button ONE time. Then take a deep breathe and say to youself," There. I did it, and I didn't turn into a ray of light." Then pat yourself on the back for your accomplishment, because you knew before you even pushed it, that wouldn't have happened....see...you’re most certainly NOT crazy. Take things slow...it will take time to get over this. Again, set out some small goals in your life that you can accomplish... (Taking a brief walk, reading a book all the way through)I think this will help your problem and make you feel more at ease. If you can, try to spend more time going out to places w/ new & old friends or family... it will preoccupy your mind. But most importantly...always say in your mind..."If I do this, this I what I project will happen"...this will put you in control of your actions, instead of your actions in control of you!
Good Luck!

First off, try NOT to think negative. Think like "No, I'll make it." or "I'll do it, I'm no quiter." Just believe you'll conquer.
It seems serious to me, so I would visit a doctor for help, maybe some medication will do. Or maybe some rest. Maybe this is all stress or pressure from stuff.
If it seems REALLY serious, then I'd advise maybe a councelour or a therapist.

I can only offer this advice.
It is better to be Optimistic than Pessimistic. The end result is exactly the same for either party but the optimist enjoys the journey to get there.

You say your IQ is 146, what if I told you this amounts to nothing but trouble? Because your mind IS THE PROBLEM.
The remedy is to pacify the mind. Give up activity of mind.

you need to see a doctor and get some medication. There are great meds out there. You are suffering from depression, and it is very common. Medication is about the only thing that can help.

you're not alone. i am kinda dealing with the same thing.
just try to forget about it, and focus on what you are doing at the moment. i don't know really what to tell you, because it's all in your mind. just remember how good your life was before you started thinking these things.
