I KNOW! Go to a doctor. But seriously, I knew when I did it I needed to be sewed up (duct tape wasn't gonna take care of that one) and went to ER and had it done. Cost me an arm & a leg.
Now I dont want to pay $$$$$$$ just to have em removed at the ER. People have told me I can do it myself and I'm certain I can. They are blue nylon stitches and I can sterilize the area with alcohol and a few shots for myself. The wound has healed nicely and there is NO sign of infection whatsoever.

Use a sharp pair of scissors to snip the stitches open, then pull them out with sterilized tweezers.

Understand that my first thought is to say go see a doctor.

*sigh*

But, if you must, cut each stitch right beside the knot using the very tip if a sharp pair of scissors. Use tweezers to pull gently on the knot to pull the stitch out. (the cut end will pull under the skin and out the other hole).

Clean the wound thouroughly.

Put Neosporin ointment on the wound and all over the stitch holes. Cover the whole mess with cotton gauze and secure it with tape.

Find someone who has some Keflex or other antibiotic and take three a day for 10 days.

Change the dressing every day for a week.

Pray you don't get infected.

Good luck.

Call your doctor. Most offices remove stitches for free. It's part of the global fee for putting them in. If you don't have a regular doctor, call the doctor that the ER referred you to.

I took my ex's out of his hand with some tiny sewing scissors I had in a travel sewing kit. You have to be careful though, don't cut the skin. Be sure to drown everything in alcohol. It doesn't feel good, especially if the knots are in the skin any.

Make sure you have alcohol and porocide dip the scissors it before you take them out. put some on the place where the stitches too and cut them very carefully. then take some twister and remove them one by one. it gone to sting a little so get ready to say ouch!

So strongly not recommended. When my son needed stitches - we went to the urgent care - where they took them out after 10 days as well. (No extra charge) - don't go the ER to have them removed - go to your regular doctors. It's worth the bit of money.

It's easy. Just take some snips. (good scissors or wire cutters) and cut each loop. Then get some souchers (or pliers) and pull each piece out by the knot. There done.

Actually, at my ER, we don't charge for suture removal, if they were put in there. Call them up, and see if this holds true for your ER as well.

Cut your entire hand off. Removing stitches can be tricky.
