I bought an Windows Vista Capable computer a couple months ago and it came with a free upgrade. So the disc should be arriving in the mail sometime in the Spring. I have heard about some bugs and compatibility issues with Windows Vista, so how long should i wait until its safe to upgrade my PC to vista? Thank you!

I'd wait maybe 8 months to a year or so. That way when you do install the disk you receive you'll be able to go online to update it with any new security measures that have been implemeted from now until then. Most bugs will should come up in the first few months.

First of all you don't need anything Vista if you don't have Vista yet, secondly, when you upgrade to Vista you won't have any need for Media Edition any longer, thirdly, Vista Home Premuim and Vista Ultimate both have the Media Center functionality onboard natively. So, don't worry, you are covered. If you are getting ready for the Vista Upgrade, go to the Vista Readiness site and run the Vista Readiness tool. It is simple to use and gives comphrehensive data on your system compatability and what if anything you need to change or remove in order to upgrade when it comes time. Remember, only the OEMs will have Vista when it first comes out, it will not be until the middle part of this year before Microsoft will make Vista available for individual consumer purchase. Well, busnesses get it too. So, if you must purchase any software now, just make sure it says it is Vista Compatible, then you are covered. Do NOT buy anything that is NOT Vista compatable, though manufacturers are stating they will have updates in time for when Vista is out for us consumer purchasers to upgrade.

Usually until at least the first service pack has been released. Vista is a lot different than any other windows app and it is not all that user friendly.

You can upgrade anytime you want, but I would wait to see how long it will till Microsoft decides to release a service pack.

If your PC is doing everything that you want, don't upgrade it. It will run slower and you will need to figure out the quirks of a new operating system.

wait 1 year it's not that much better for the average home user.
that will give them time to work out some things.
