To get a passport for the first time, It usually up to 4 weeks, to renew it, it usually takes less (2-3 weeks). however, you can expedite it (if you pay the overnight delivery costs).
You will get yours a lot faster if you can get to an office (saves you the time to mail your application).
Check this website for any additional information.

you cant' get one faster if you pay extra. If you go in it's faster than sending it away but you're still going to wait about 4 weeks. If I were you I'd be waiting in that line right now.

What country are you in?
In the US, if you are traveling for business you can take a letter from the company, with proof of travel (ie. you itinerary) and pay a fee to have a passport expedited in about 3 hours. Without knowing what country you are in, I can't be of much help.

I doubt you can get one before the 7th.....
When i got mine I paid extra to have it expedited and it still took forever.
I would say going down to the office and waiting in line would be the best way.

The last time I had one it was about forty dollars. With that chip they've been talking about I think they're looking to up it to a thousand dollars or something like that. Suspicious, if you ask me.
