Switch brands of food or she will end up with urinary problems and stomach problems.

Royal Canin is the best. You can get it from the vet.

It doesn't matter so much what brand the dog food is, but what the label says. Look at the ingredients on the label. A meat name such as chicken, lamb, or beef should be the first ingredient; not meat by products, ground corn, rice, etc. The first ingredient listed shows you that ingredient is what the most of your bag of dog food contains. That's why the more meat products listed first, the more expensive. I don't buy the most expensive, but I do go middle of the road-some vets even stock food I feel isn't the best-again read the labels!! I agree- Ol Roy is junk!!

Stay far away from food with corn and soy, both have been linked to causing seizures and allergies. And don't take your vets advice about food, 95% aren't trained in pet nutrition. They are even payed to recommend science diet, iams and royal canin.

Say your dog must eat 5 cups of ol'roy a day, if fed one of the foods below it will only need 3 cups a day. Plus you will have at least 50% less feces to pick up

Innova, Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul, Canidea, Solid Gold, TimberWolf, Merrick, Fromm, Flint River Ranch, Blue Buffalo, By Nature, Natures Variety, Natures Logic, California Natural, Evolve, Holistic Blend, Newman's Own Organics, Organix and VeRUS are good foods.

Even Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice is 100% better than ol'roy. Ol'roy even contains Roy himself. They put euthinized companion animals in their foods they list them as "meat and bone meal". The preserveitive they use is linked to cancer. Long term use will no doubt cause irreverseable dammage to your dog. Please switch to someting much better!

Nutro, and NutroMax are good top shelf dog food. Hill's Science Diet is excellent. Remember what you put in the dog is what you get out...not just in crap either. Their coat, skin, the way they smell, the shine in their eyes...all are effected by what they eat. As for being picky. Put the food down and leave it down for 30 minutes. Then pick it up. If he doesn't eat, thats fine. he won't starve. Put the food down the next day same time, same 30 minutes, if he doesn't eat (he should), repeat...I guarantee the next time he's sees the food, he'll have things all figured out.

You don't want to buy the cheapest food when it comes to your dog. Ever heard the old saying "you get what you pay for"
You can get IAMS at wal-mart, and it's good food, just a little more expensive that ol roy, but it's all worth it in the long run, or you could go to petsmart, or your vet to get her food.

Supermarkets in my area (Austin) have started carrying better brands like Iams and Nutro. They cost more but they're worth it. Feeding your dog a better diet will keep her coat softer and shinier, lessen her chances of itchy skin and ear infections, and improve her overall health. I personally really like Natural Balance and Bil-Jac, which they sell at Petsmart and Petco.

She might still be recovering from the surgery depending on long it's been, but if you're worried about her, you can try pouring a bit of warm water over her kibble, adding a bit of warm white rice, a sprinkle of garlic powder, or greenbeans.

How would you like to have junk food being your only form of nutrition? That stuff is garbage! There are alot of better dog foods on the market that are fairly inexpensive, talk with your vet to find one that is right for your dog's needs and will fit your pocketbook.

Eeeew!! Have you smelled that food when you open the bag?? It's frigging rancid garbage! Please change to a high quality dog food you can only buy in pet stores. Your poor dog probably got to eat real dog food while at the vet's and now she doesn't want to eat trash anymore!

Stop giving her that crap! Sorry to sound harsh, but that dogfood is horrible. I know it's cheap, but invest a little in your dog's food and you will be surprised at how much better she will eat. I have 2 Siberian Huskies and I buy their food at PetSmart and it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.

Old Roy, the walmart brand is known to be one of the worst on the market. :(

Here is one of the best articles on dog food and nutrition and comparisons that I have seen. Best!
