do we find a solace in these perfect unflawed beings because we are unable to accept our flawed nature...and cannot have total trust in anything flawed including the people around us every day...does it push us from our own nature, making us seek this impossible perfection...???.......personally i am not a Christian...but i do not deny anyone else their belief and faith...life afterall is how we all choose and do perceive it...oh...and id rather do flawed any day than flawless...to me the perfection is in our flaws...;0)

Human brains don't like unanswered questions and loose ends. That is why we fill in the gaps with mysticism and mythology.

I think you've got a choice. Either everything is perfect or nothing is. The idea of a perfect god having created an imperfect universe is a nonsense.
Do we confuse 'imperfect' with, 'not the way I want it'?

I prefer the thought that everything is perfect just the way it is, even though I may not 'get' that all the time.
I have found that thinking doesn't actually help very much and that meditation, hours and hours of it, is much more conducive.

For the problem of pain, 'the only way out is IN'.

Remember Rumi's verse?
"Out beyond our ideas of right and wrong,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there."

I think that it is because we feel that we need rescuing, life is become more and more chaotic and out of our control (for example natural disaters and terrorism) the idea that 'perfect beings' are watching over us is comforting to some people.
Interstingly though Greek and Roman Gods were not perfect, they were flawed and could make mistakes. They were like us except with more power.

If only ! An all powerful, all knowing, benign superhero who loves me, and has made arrangements for my well being while alive , and V l P treatment when I am dead. He asks no questions, does not intervene, loves Churches, and all things bright and beautiful. Almost tempted to forgive the git for sleeping through the Holocaust, when his `own` needed him !
