i know they can take my house i 'am just trying trying to figure out if i owe taxe from may can they take the money you owe out of your refund

I promise. I wouldn't jerk your chain. The deal is like this the property taxes are secured by the property. You are not personally liable for the taxes. when you don't pay the only recorse available to the tax collector is to foreclose on your property for back taxes. they cannot come for anything besides the property. that is what is called a specific lien. It only relates to that property. If you own three homes and pay taxes on one but not the other two they can only take the other two not the one you paid on.

Make sense now? I promise. I know what I'm talking about.

But for fun call the county tax collector where your property is and ask them to be EXTRA sure.

Might be able to, but usually wouldn't.

Are you really more worried about losing your tax refund than about losing your home?
