Since you have a child the HOH was the correct filing status. If you figured the EIC it sounds right to me. I'm surprised it wasnt more. Did you pay any child care expenses during the year?

You don't say how much was withheld, and to answer if your refund was correct, anyone would have to know that.

Taxes of $116 on taxable income $11,015 is about right. Assuming that your child qualifies for the child tax credit, that $116 should have been wiped out by the credit.

I am assuming that the child lives with you. If he or she does, then HOH was the correct filing status. HOH, with income of $25,000 and one qualifying child, should give an EIC of $1115. So if you had about $1362 withheld, then a refund of $2477 sounds about right - if your withholding was a lot higher than that, it sounds like you should have gotten more back; if it was a lot less that was withheld, then sounds like you got too much back.

Good luck.

The total tax sounds about right for your income and conditions. Why is your refund so large? You need to have your withholdings reduced so that the Federal Government is not holding your money. Talk to your employer.
