Milk and mucous may look slightly similar but there is no evidence that drinking milk will increase the amount of mucous.

sorta...if you have a sore throat you shouldn't drink milk...yes milk creates flem, this is also why singers normally don't drink milk (or any other dairy product) on the day of a performance...

I think it's because it is thick and coats your throat. Your throat will already have Flem in it so the milk won't help, that's what my mother told me, no expert here!

It does not "create" phlegm, it just thickens the mucus.Drink all you want, fluids are crucial - just make sure you also drink plenty of water as well to thin the mucus.

yep, that's true. That's why they say to drink plenty of clear liquids or juice to keep you from being so stuffy and making more and more mucous.
