It's the acetaminophen ("Tylenol") contained in the Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycodone type of meds that can cause liver damage. Any med taken routinely over a long period of time, or excessively, has side effects on the body, we wer not designed to be "chemically dependent" by nature. Other body systems such as blood, gastric, renal, and central nervous system can be affected by other pain meds. You might want to ask your Provider about a referral to a Pain Management Specialist who can oversee your Pain Control and your concerns about med side effects more thoroughly.

Deep breathing and meditation may help. When you manage your stress, you can effectively help fight your pain. It also depends on what is causing your Pancreatitis. There may be other options in that regard as well.
