i am working on building a system in an escort for competition. i am looking at two dual voice coil 2 ohms per coil cerwin vega strokers and a hifonics colossus amp which is 1600x2 at 1 ohm per channel. what kind of power system would be best suited for this setup? would anyone know around how many db's this would produce? i'm looking for over 160. thanks for any help.

what rms on them speakers.....................................



and hifonics amps arent that good at 1 ohm........ my friend had like a 2000 watt amp and it fried in a week at 2 ohms

No one will be able to tell you what ind of db you will get out of this setup unless they have the exact same thing. there are just to many variables that come into play when it comes to producing in a db drag comp. you have to figure in Source(CD player or MP3 player) wiring(gauge and quality) power system( battery strength and capacitors please tell me you have at least one 2.4 Farad if not more, structural integrity of the vehicle( how well the vehicle reacts to the pressure of that much spl), is there dynamat, possible window problems, how the subs are wired, the box( correct air space and sealed ported bandpass or isobaric). so you wont know what it can produce until you set it up
