Who are you? If you're a nurse then you'd know what to do and who to call. If not, who is this patient? Blood letting used to be a common approach but I don't think the 'patient' would be your friend if you tried it. If it's really that bad go to A&E. If you've just run out of meds call the doc or pharmacist.

I had a very similar reading in my twenties for no reason at all. I was in town. Remember feeling dizzy and abit 'out of it'. Went into chemists to sit down and the pharmacist took my bp cos i looked abit ill. It was about 210 over 112, he contacted my doctor straight away and i was taken there, the reading by then had dropped to about 190/108. 20 mins later it was right back down and noone could explain the sudden massive rise like that. It never happened again, and the cause was never discovered. No harm was done it seems and I was otherwise healthy. How old is the patient? Are u sure the reading is correct? Please dont delay, call the emergency doctor or ambulance. And good luck. Hopefully it's just a blip.

More info would be needed to pass any valid comments. Age, sex medical and drug history and most important multiple readings over a sustained period. As a general rule single BP reading should NEVER be used to decide anything. I generally would take a couple of surgery readings and then arrange a 24hour BP monitor which gives a truely reliable measure of what is actually happening. Generally DON'T PANIC!Remember even if your BP is up it only gives a statistical risk over a period. Best advise see your GP or practice nurse and get it rechecked and take it from there.

Call 911 immediately! This type of blood pressure can cause a stroke- and then death!
Yahoo answers is not for medical advice- call a doctor with medical problems.
I hope that the patient survives.
Call 911 NOW!!!!

Go and see a GP in the morning or next surgery, this isn't a medical emergency unless the BP has been sustained at very high readings for a while.
Worrying and panicing the 'patient' like this won't bring it down.

Throw away your blood pressure machine. These things are fine at the doctor's surgery or at the hospital. Why would you honestly want one at home? you either need it adjusted or your patient is dying.......

This is what hospitals are for. This individual is well on their way to a stroke, and possibly a fatal one. Call 911 and stop delaying by coming here.
